After 12 years in the
market, IBM plans to end of service its VisualAge
Smalltalk Enterprise V6 product line on April
30, 2006. As a valued customer, we know that this
news combined with industry trends, and IBM's
future product strategy presents a number of new
questions and challenges:
- Should I transition my Smalltalk application
to a new platform?
- If I do transition, what platform should I
pick & how do I get there?
- Should I implement Web services or SOA around
my existing application to keep it running into
the future?
- Or should I maintain my current VAST applications
and plan to build future systems in Java?
IBM has chosen Synchrony Systems as a strategic
partner to provide transition solutions that enable
you to modernize your software application while
leveraging your existing investment. Greg Bonadies,
IBM's VisualAge Smalltalk Transition Manager has
called Synchrony Systems the "best of breed" when
it comes to software modernization solutions and
technologies.
